COVID-19 infection as a possible contributor to the development of Parkinson’s Disease.

It is widely accepted that certain viral infections (such as influenzas and coronaviruses) play a role in the development of Parkinson’s Disease. Anosmia, or the loss of smell, has long been observed to be present in patients with viral infections who later develop Parkinsonism. There is much concern for the prevalence of anosmia as a symptom feature of SARS-Cov-2. This will be an area of continuing research. The following link is one such interesting case study.
